MySongbook - Lyrics and chords App Reviews

Works as advertised...for once! Bought this after checking out a few others. This is the one for gigging musicians. Works great and is priced fairly. Would like to see a way to add sticky notes and a way to keep the chord picker open instead of it auto hiding after you pick a chord. Im a fan of this app and have been using it for both vocals and guitar work for my top 40 band. Love the fact that I can shed tunes and share them via email among the other band members. That way were all working from the same base charts. .txt import works well for me too. Rock on!

I bought this app some time ago and then never used it do to there not being a data base I could simply download songs from (me being lazy and looking for the easy button). I finally out of frustration with other apps decided to give it a try and enter in a few songs. WOW!!!!! This works better than anything else I have experienced, and I have waisted money on several other things. Take my advice, get some friends together, learn how to use the app correctly, and start building your data base in the mysongbook app. You will not regret this! Files can be emailed to other mysongbook users with ease, no more creating a chord chart for you in capo 3 and another copy for your keyboard in Bb. Creat 1 in Bb and let mysongbook do the rest of the work. Worship leaders, sending out set lists, and organizing your database is as simple as it gets with this. I cant say enough good things about this, if its missing one thing, its a place where mysongbook users could get together and share worship files to save time in building up a data base :) but with the amount of people that carry an iPad or iPhone to church these days its probably easy enough to get your own worship team together to work on this. Anyway, get the app, build your data base, and stop spending money on paper and printer ink!

This app has all the necessary elements for what I need and more. It is all at my fingertips. Thank you.

I bought this for my iPad , why do I have to buy it for my iMac too ! :-(

Very easy and efficient to use. Couldnt ask for anything better.

When inspiration hit to write a song I quickly typed it into this app, thinking it would be a great place to edit and continue working on my song, and when I pressed done it deleted the entire thing. Thinking I must have pressed something wrong I thought oh well, I can remember most of it and it needed changing anyhow, I typed it in again. I pressed the done button and found my work deleted once more. So, so frustrating and what a useless app if you cant even add songs to it. In my frustration I have now forgotten most of my piece. In the future, I think I will stick to napkins.

I was very happy when you updated the program to be able to select between major OR minor keys but the minor keys seem to be a bit buggy. The Nashville numbers and letter chords do not match. There seems to be a minor 3rd displacement (i.e. in the key of Bm 1m is displayed as Dm instead of the correct Bm). Great app and great functionality. I use it everyday. I will be glad when this bug is fixed, though.

Been waiting for something like this for a long time. The one problem is that I cant line up the chords. If this problem could be fixed, that would be great!

This app just does not work. The help is not understandable, and the developer cant be reached. Wish I had researched a little before spending the six dollars.

Complete and utter rip-off. ChordTunes is a very limited application but its a Cadillac in comparison to this one. Except this one has the Cadillac price tag.

Many of the programs that I tried only allow you to download chord charts, and not input your own songs from scratch... MySongbook is the exception, which is great for me because Im a professional musician with a huge songbook of my own original material. MySongbook handles that task neatly. The only thing I might like to see included in future versions is the ability to format the lyrics. When a song calls for a duet, I usually differentiate between the parts by putting one singers lyrics in italics... MySongbook will not yet let me do that, and Im half@$$ing it by marking each line with hashtags, but italics or bold would definitely be better. Keep it up, and I look forward to using the program and hopefully seeing further updates :)

I cannot say enough how great this app is if you are simply looking for something to replace your 4,000 page binders with all your centuries old hand written or printer generated lyrics. It lets you download lyrics ( cut/paste ) from your favorite site ( mine is "epic lyrics" ) and simply copy into a new file in this program, then apply the key ( even has transpose for guitar with capo ) and write the chords directly above the words to easily follow along. Anyone that cant figure this thing out has just not spent a reasonable moment of time with it. For the songs that I need just a chart, I simply type it in using symbols between the alphabetical letter names ... Ex: BbM7 | Cm | D7b5 | Gm.... Etc For under 5 bucks.... Just get it!!!

I dont know how many times I had to start over in edit mode. This app is clunky and non responsive. When I did finally get a song finished, I tried to email the chart. The app looked like it would use my current contacts but when I clicked to add them in the send field all it added was the name, no address. You would be better off with Onsong or iGigbook.

Adding Chord charts is cumbersome. Format changes in view mode. File sharing feature via iTunes is flakey. Would love the app if these thing s where remedied.

I cant stop using this app, I really love how its so easy and so helpful at the same time. I use it for playing live and practice, I just wish it could show piano chords (it would be really cool) but overall I love it

I like the app so far. Ive only entered a couple of songs as of yet but its working good. Love that it has uke chords! Would like to see a sync option between devices; that would make me feel more like it was worth the money.
